The Director General of National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, made a working visit to Belgium on Thursday, at the head of a large security delegation made up of directors and executives from central services reporting to the DGSN-DGST division.

This visit, which is part of bilateral meetings between the Director General of the DGSN and the DGST and his counterparts from the Federal Police and internal security in Belgium, aims to strengthen joint cooperation mechanisms in various areas relating to to security and intelligence action, underlines a press release from the DGSN-DGST Pole.

It also comes following the recent visit made on November 25 to Morocco by the General Administrator of Belgian State Security, Francisca Bostyn, continues the same source.

During this visit, Mr. Hammouchi held working sessions and bilateral talks with the Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police, Eric Snoek, relating to various security issues of common interest, and which were an opportunity to examine different threats and emerging security risks, in addition to the means to combat these challenges within the framework of a common and collective vision.

The talks between the two sides also focused on examining security challenges and threats emanating from terrorist groups and organized crime networks in many regions of the world, notably in the Sahel and Sahara, the Middle East and Europe.

In recognition of the common desire to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the security field, the Director General of the DGSN and the DGST and the Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police signed a joint action plan, including a bilateral action program for 2025-2026, with a view to consolidating cooperation in the field of combating organized crime and terrorism, coordinating efforts aimed at processing data relating to border transit, continuing internationally wanted individuals, as well as to cooperate in the area of ​​combating money laundering and terrorist threats targeting sporting events.

According to the press release, this action plan concluded between the two parties sets out the mechanisms for bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts, as well as the approved channels to facilitate the exchange of information and joint visits, to greater effectiveness and efficiency of joint security action.

This visit illustrates the solidity of bilateral cooperation uniting Morocco and Belgium in various security areas, notably the fight against terrorism and cross-border organized crime, notes the press release, noting that it also takes place in a context marked by consolidation and the development of security partnerships between Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts.

The visit confirms, once again, the distinguished place and effective role of Morocco in the field of international security cooperation, and also reflects the credibility enjoyed by the Moroccan security services with their European partners, as key player in common efforts to preserve international peace and security, the press release concludes.
