It was at the end of a long day of trial, which took place this Wednesday, December 4 at the Lyon criminal court, that the prosecution spoke on the case of the president of the Hautes-Alpes Departmental Council, Jean-Marie Bernard. As a reminder, the 76-year-old man, elected in 2015, was notably tried for suspicions of favoritism in the award of public contracts, forgery, use of forgery, and embezzlement. All in the context of two separate cases.

Thus, fifteen months in prison were requested by the public prosecutor for the case of Jean-Marie Bernard, but also a fine of 10,000 euros and an automatic ineligibility sentence of three years, report our colleagues from BFM DICI.
The president of Hautes-Alpes was not the only accused to discover the prosecution's requisitions this Wednesday. Three other defendants also became aware of it, starting with the general director of department services, still in office to this day, for whom the magistrate requested ten months suspended imprisonment, two years of ineligibility as well as a fine of 5,000 euros.
In the case of Jean-Marie Bernard's former chief of staff until 2018, Fabrice Hurth, the public prosecutor requires six month of suspended imprisonment, 5,000 euros fine and two years of ineligibility, but requests release since he was no longer in office.
Finally, Catherine Reboul, former co-director of the territorial civil service management center, could receive a six-month suspended prison sentence, a fine of 1,500 euros and two years of ineligibility.
