Motion of censure: the Barnier government overthrown

The day after the motion of censure which led to the fall of Michel Barnier's government, Emmanuel Macron's speech did not calm the political situation. On TF1's 8 p.m., the leader of France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, described his speech as “empty and pretentious chatter”accusing the president of “give lessons to everyone and count on the fact that the French do not understand what is happening”. He therefore reiterated his call for resignation and the organization of an early presidential election.

Emmanuel Macron is “the cause of the problem”

Returning to the political situation, described as “chaos” by Emmanuel Macron during his speech, Jean-Luc Mélenchon estimated that he “does not understand what is happening, neither in the country, nor in the political mores of this country”. For him, “it was not Mr. Barnier who was censored, it was Mr. Macron who was censored.” Evoking “the spirit” institutions, the LFI leader called for the resignation of the president. “The spirit is that he must go so that the people can vote again”he said.

Faced with Emmanuel Macron's proposal to appoint “a government of general interest”the tribune emphasized: “The general interest is that people are tired of living in a country that is richer than it has ever been in its history and we see the poverty.” Therefore, “the French cannot escape their fate as adults and citizens and they want to exercise it”insisted Jean-Luc Mélenchon, wishing for a new election and citing as an example General de Gaulle who had decided to resign in 1969.

Qualifying Emmanuel Macron as “the cause of the problem” politics in France, Jean-Luc Mélenchon estimated that “He’s the one who makes a mess, who blocks everything and doesn’t want to hear anyone.” For him, “in a month or two months perhaps, the National Rally will end up saying that there is no other solution” as the departure of Emmanuel Macron from the Élysée, which the Insoumis have been calling for since the summer. While the president insisted that he would continue in office until the end of his term, the former presidential candidate said he would leave regardless. “He said he would not dissolve, he did it. He will leave, through the force of events”concluded the Insoumis.
