The Campus of professions and qualifications of excellence Tourisme Hôtellerie-Restaurant des Pays de la Loire has launched a collection of manga entitled “Totei”, to promote professional training in the hotel and catering sector.
The first volume, Emy, apprentice in service!follows the journey ofEmy Chasseriauin the second year of apprenticeship in BTS MHR Service option.
“Give young people a realistic and positive vision of careers”
The manga highlights Emy's daily life in her business, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Anne of Brittanyof Mathieu Guibertin La Plaine-sur-Mer (Loire-Atlantique), as well as in its training establishment, the Jeanne Delanoue high school-training center, in Cholet.
“The objective is to give young people a realistic and positive vision of the catering professions and to encourage them to choose this path”, indicates Mathieu Guibert, hoping that this “exciting” manga will open up new professional perspectives for young people: “This corresponding to a reading that young people can have on their desk or bedside table. This fits with ideas of transmission and of valuationand creation of vocations. »
“A chance”
Emy Chasseriau, the heroine of the manga, expressed her satisfaction at participating in this project. “It allows me to meet even more people,” she confided in a video presenting the book on YouTube. “It’s really something I really like.” She sees this project as “an opportunity” for her and emphasizes the importance of “showing what catering is and what gourmet catering is”.
The student is currently continuing her training as a work-study management assistant at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud (Maine-et-Loire).

“I love learning and helping others learn things. Learning through a manga is a great idea and I haven’t seen that often,” said author Tatiana Passavant.
Note in epilogue the story of chef Mathieu Guibert in about ten boards without words signed Tehem.
The Totei manga collection is part of a broader approach to promoting the hotel and catering professions among young people.
François-Jean Goudeauat the origin of the project, wanted to respond to the cultural practices of young middle school students by using the manga format to promote these professions.
The manga “Emy, apprentice in service!” » has been on sale since November 7, 2024.
The book is available at the restaurants Anne de Bretagne, in La Plaine-sur-Mer, and Le Beau boucot, in Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef. Copies can also be ordered online. Its price: 8 euros.
