The City of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel is asking citizens for photos for its 150th anniversary

By: Jean-Philippe Morin

The City of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel is calling on all citizens to participate in a project to create a commemorative book to celebrate the city’s 150 years of history.

All residents can share their personal photos and memories to enrich this book which will trace the city’s journey through the decades.

Every photo submitted will have the potential to be included in this historical work that will document significant moments, milestones, and the evolution of the community since its beginnings. Whether it’s snapshots of familiar streets, local celebrations, iconic buildings, or moments of everyday life, all submissions can tell the story in an authentic and inclusive way.

“This book would not be complete without the contributions of our residents, current and former. We encourage everyone to delve into their personal archives to help us capture the very essence of our city through the ages,” says Vincent Deguise, Mayor of the City of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel.

To participate, simply drop off your photos at the administrative offices of the Town Hall or at the Pierre-de-Saurel Historical Society with your contact information and include a brief description of each photo, including the location and year it was taken if possible.

All submitted photos will be digitized at the Pierre-de-Saurel Historical Society and returned to their owners. By participating, citizens consent to their photo being reproduced in the book and in any communication related to the project.

For more information on how to participate or for any questions, you can contact Catherine Deguise, at the City of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel, at 450 742-3744 ext. 203 or Amy Cournoyer, at the Société historique Pierre-de-Saurel, at 450 780-5739 ext. 3021, both part of the organizing committee of the Fêtes du 150e.
