I would like to express my deep indignation following the accusations of discrimination allegedly suffered by Jewish students during the 2024 baccalaureate oral exams. The testimonies report abnormally low grades and an aggressive attitude of some members of the jury towards these students, a situation that is absolutely unacceptable in our Republic. I welcome the decision of the Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, to open an administrative investigation to shed full light on these serious accusations. Transparency and rigor in the investigation of this case will be essential to restore confidence in our education system. These events highlight an issue already raised by the recent report on the fact-finding mission on the rise of anti-Semitism in higher education, which I presented on June 26 to the Senate with my colleague Bernard Fialaire. Faced with this alarming situation, it may be necessary to create a new Senate fact-finding mission to identify the measures needed to prevent and combat anti-Semitism at all levels of our education system. If the facts of discrimination are proven, it is imperative that very heavy sanctions be pronounced against those responsible. Anti-Semitism, in all its forms, must be fought with the greatest firmness and determination. We must ensure that our schools remain places of tolerance, respect and equality for all.
