Morocco’s retirees, considering themselves one of the most aggrieved categories in recent years, continue to close ranks to make their voices better heard. This is the case recently with the creation of the Moroccan coalition of retirees’ associations.

This new coalition brings together the Association of Former Civil Servants of Parliamentthat of retirees from the department of Communicationthe National Federation of Retirees of the Ministry of Youth and sportsthe Association of Retirees of the MAPthe Association of Retirees of the DGIthe Moroccan Association “Al Omr al jamil” (the beautiful age), the Association of Retirees from Housing, Urban Politics and the Al Omrane group and the Moroccan Association of Retirees.

“Other associations will join the ranks of our coalition, and we will hold a conference to outline our action strategy and our demands,” declared to Médias24 El Houcine El Moutawakilgeneral coordinator of this new collective.

This new structure also says it is ready to collaborate with other retiree organizations, on the basis of a clear charter.

“It would take too long to catalog our demands, but the situation has clearly deteriorated in recent years with rising prices and pensions that never change. However, a retiree, or an elderly person in general, necessarily has a lot of health expenses,” underlines El Houcine El Moutawakil.

The new coalition whose activities he coordinates intends, initially, to involve all the services and departments concerned using an approach based on dialogue. “We are going to knock on all doors, because the situation is becoming untenable,” concludes our interlocutor.
