This morning shortly after 12 noon, Météo France issued a yellow alert bulletin. concerning a risk of strong storms with lightning and even flooding in 78 departments of metropolitan France. The misery of many July visitors continues, since Friday is also forecast to be rainy. The weather should still improve this weekend according to the forecasts.

Storms: few departments spared

Those who went on holiday at the beginning of the month can testify: the weather in july is really bad so far and the holidays are a bit spoiled. When some do not simply decide to postpone them while waiting for a long-term improvement. The rise in temperatures in recent days is the cause of this risk of storms. For today, only the Ardennes and Pas-de-Calais are spared in the north of France, and, in the south, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the Alpes-Maritimes, the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Hautes-Alpes, the Var and the Vaucluse. Eight departments are placed on orange alert.

Thunderstorms: bad weather that lasts

The French can’t take it anymore. After the “cold drop” phenomenon that lasted throughout the month of May, leading to abnormally low temperatures for the season, gray skies and large amounts of rain, June did not improve matters. Although it was the hottest on record, it caused massive storms, the consequences of which have led to numerous floods (Loire-Atlantique, Sarthe, etc.), and in particular the disaster in the hamlet of La Bérarde, in Isère.
