New illustration of the shortage of replacements in National Education. A CE2/CM1 class at the Ferdinand-Buisson elementary school in Follainville-Dennemont (), a village near Mantes-la-Jolie, has found itself two days a week without a teacher since start of September 2024. On Thursdays and Fridays, when the part-time therapeutic teacher is not working, she is very rarely replaced.

The situation has consequences on the learning and balance of children, the organization of families and even the functioning of the school. Logically dissatisfied, the parents of the students plan to “block” the establishment for part of the morning, Friday December 6, 2024. And this, even if the Academic Inspectorate announced, while the demonstration was already declared at the prefecture, the appointment of a long-term teacher to fill the holes in the timetable.

Parents keep up the pressure

Far from savoring what may seem like a victory, the parents of students remain mobilized et vigilant. “For the moment, we have no writing, we have nothing. So, we are maintaining the gathering,” said one of them, this Thursday morning, to 78actu.

“Out of twelve weeks of classes since September, no more than ten days have been replaced. This is not sustainable, the children are disturbed. They do not have stable benchmarks. Some people think it's a weekend on Tuesday evening. »

Barbara Scech Ali, parent representative

“Our children have already lost a quarter”

At the start of the week, in the midst of preparations for the event, they were full of arguments to illustrate the harmful impact of such a situation: the turnover of substitutes, the distribution of students in the school which, mechanically, will “overload” other classes, the fact of knowing from the day for the next day if there is class or not… And above all, the delay accumulated in the program… “Our children have already lost a term,” laments Barbara Scech Ali. “There will inevitably be deficiencies in the future,” worries Luc Bourget, another parent.

“A replacement has just been appointed until the end of the therapeutic half-time. He will be there until at least mid-March, wanted to reassure, Wednesday evening, theAcademic inspection Yvelines. Our services are extremely mobilized to deal with this type of situation. »

Between 100 and 150 people are expected Friday morning by the organizers, who are not giving up, especially since a second class at the school is experiencing replacement problems and the other two “are overloaded”.
