LA SEYNE SUR MER: Restoring safety and tranquility for residents of Cours Louis-Blanc

The town of La Seyne-sur-Mer, guarantor of the safety and peace of its residents, has decided to modify the operation of the Cours Louis-Blanc in order to put an end to repeated nuisances.

As of July 8, Cours Louis-Blanc will be closed to traffic every day from 7 p.m. Traffic will not be restored until 3 p.m., at the end of the market. This decision, which will be evaluated in the fall, was taken in consultation with local residents and shopkeepers who called for a rapid response adapted to the situation. The National Police will also ensure a reinforced presence every evening.

For several months, when businesses close, we have witnessed the installation of illegal terraces and behaviors that are no longer tolerable: gatherings, noise pollution, illegal parking, alcohol consumption, trafficking, etc. Most of the time committed by people from outside the neighborhood who converge in vehicles on Cours Louis-Blanc.

“To restore serenity and calm in this area, I decided that we had to rethink the operation of Cours Louis-Blanc and therefore prohibit access to vehicles in the evening. Faced with a worsening situation and while the high summer temperatures will force residents to sleep with their windows open, it is unacceptable that local residents are trapped and subjected to the behavior of some,” insists Nathalie BICAIS, Mayor of La Seyne-sur-Mer.

The retractable bollards will be raised every evening by the municipal police, who will intensify their patrols in the area in close collaboration with the national police force.
