As part of its commitment to the climate, and to achieve the objectives set by the Paris Agreements, the City of Morges is developing a Climate Plan. Today she is launching a participatory consultative approach and invites all of Morgien society to participate.
The participatory approach runs until February 28, 2025. It aims to mobilize citizens, businesses, the associative sector, schools, as well as other stakeholders in the Morgian territory, around a constructive dialogue for a transition to a sustainable future.
Three key themes
The Municipality wishes to know the positioning of members of the Morgian community on three key themes, essential for an effective ecological transition:
- Travel in a way that reduces your climate impact, both on a daily basis and for leisure. What choices should you make regarding mobility?
- Participate in the development of a resilient, low-carbon local economy. What choices should you make in terms of food, leisure and financial investments?
- Consume goods and services favoring quality rather than quantity. How can we encourage the reuse of material goods and reduce the quantity of waste and food waste?
A two-step consultation
-The participatory approach is organized in two stages to encourage broad and in-depth contribution. From December 5, 2024 to January 31, 2025, by a public survey, lasting 5 to 10 minutes, accessible on the page morges.ch/climat. Then during February 2025, via meetings organized by the Municipality, by invitation. These sessions will bring together members of Morgian society for an in-depth discussion on climate issues. The discussions will make it possible to collect concrete contributions to strengthen the directions and measures of the Morges Climate Plan.
Aim for a neutral carbon footprint in 2050
The consultation is part of a proactive approach to making Morges an exemplary city in terms of sustainability, drawing on the collective strength of its population. Together, we can act for a low-carbon future and to achieve the objectives of climate neutrality by 2050. The Municipality will communicate its climate plan during 2025, a review of this participatory approach is planned during this stage.
