The PS mayor of Paris defended the “very good work” of the Minister of the Interior on the subject of the Olympic Games and advocated stability during this period.

The PS mayor of Paris said on Wednesday July 10 that she was in favor of maintaining a “resigned” Attal government to “manage current affairs” during the Olympic Games. Anne Hidalgo defended the “very good work” done on the subject by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

Two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11), the mayor of the host city expressed on France Inter her “immense relief at not having a far-right Prime Minister during this period”.

“I don’t see how the resigning Attal government could do otherwise, being invested to manage day-to-day affairs during the Games period, that’s very good,” added Anne Hidalgo, referring to the two major players who are “the Minister of the Interior and the Prefect of Police.”

Hidalgo in favor of a “republican front”

Police Prefect Laurent Nuñez “will not change and that is a very good thing.” As for Gérald Darmanin, he “did a very good job on the Games,” the mayor stressed. “Then, who is carrying the Games? The President of the Republic, the President of the Cojo Tony Estanguet and the Mayor of Paris. There, there is stability,” she added.

In the National Assembly, which is made up of three main blocs, without an absolute majority, Anne Hidalgo is in favour of a “republican front” isolating the RN in order to legislate on the “few issues on which there can be a majority”, such as health, housing or support for Ukraine.
