Helix Dijon: an “AUSLANDER RAUS” evening organized in Dijon, the municipality seized to ban the event!

Helix Dijon, a far-right group, is making headlines again with an event planned for July 20, 2024. This evening, entitled “AUSLANDER RAUS” (which means “foreigners out” in French), is causing outrage, particularly in a context where racist acts and remarks are increasing.

A precedent in RouenAn expected response from the municipality

The Union Syndicale Solidaires de Côte-d’Or reacted strongly to the announcement of this event. According to our information, the union requested that this evening be banned. They asked the first deputy mayor of Dijon to collaborate with Mayor François Rebsamen to issue a municipal decree banning this event.

If the evening goes ahead, the Union Syndicale Solidaires de Côte-d’Or plans to organize a demonstration. The goal is to protest against the holding of this xenophobic event and to show firm opposition to the rise of racism and the extreme right in the region.

A precedent in Rouen

The example of Rouen could serve as a model for Dijon. Indeed, the socialist mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, had issued a municipal decree to ban a similar evening organized by the identitarian bar “Le Mora”. Despite the judicial approval obtained by the organizers, the “Ausländer Raus” evening planned in Rouen was canceled on Friday, June 28.

“AUSLANDER RAUS” is a xenophobic slogan that gained momentum after being taken up and hijacked by young people in Germany. They sing it to the techno tune of “L’Amour toujours” by DJ Gigi D’Agostino, sometimes accompanied by Nazi salutes.

A response expected from the municipality

The reaction of the Dijon municipality to this situation remains uncertain. A municipal decree banning the evening could be issued, but it is likely that it will be contested by the organizers. However, such a decree would be symbolically strong in the current context of the fight against racism and the extreme right.

The Union Syndicale Solidaires de Côte-d’Or is ready to mobilize against this event, recalling the importance of combating all forms of xenophobia and racism in society. The decision of the local authorities will be closely scrutinized, as it could have important implications for the management of the extreme right and hate speech in Dijon and beyond.
