Relief for the thousands of faithful at the Mantes-la-Ville mosque (Yvelines). The Versailles Court of Appeal has just ruled in favor of the Mantes-Sud Muslim Association (AMMS) which had been contesting its placement in liquidation for months.
In April, the judicial court decided on a judicial liquidation of the AMMS after a complaint from a construction company which had not been paid for work at the mosque. Consequence: the religious building had to close for several months, depriving 2,000 people of a place of worship. Many of them had to retreat to Mantes-la-Jolie or Limay to pray, especially during Friday sermons.
Its president, Aziz El Jaouhari, then filed an interim order to obtain its reopening. In September, the court of appeal granted his request and temporarily permitted the reception of the faithful. There remained then the final judgment.
Made public at the beginning of the week, it definitively confirms the good rights of the association and its president. The place of worship is therefore definitively saved. “The court swept away doubts about the legal existence of the association and the supposed financial problems,” the latter welcomes. We understand that the closure has been very difficult for our faithful both in terms of symbolism, for religious services and for the cultural and social work that is recognized for it. However, it was imperative to respect the law and court decisions and follow legal channels while letting justice do its work with complete peace of mind. »
