A detection day for the football school was organized by the Girondins this Wednesday with around thirty young players present on the synthetic field with educators, as well as parents around for observation. Bordeaux has been increasing detections for a month.
Official photo and partners
On field number 4, Erwan Lannuzel and his assistant lead the session for 19 outfield players. On the main field, Bruno Irlès and his players, numbering 20, arrive on the pitch at 11 a.m. The start of the morning was devoted to official photos of the season with also the presence of club partners. There were around ten of them attending this training at the edge of the lawn.
Christian Potel warms up with his goalkeepers: Lecroart, Grimaud, Mandanda and Diabaté. The last two will stay with the N2 group when the two youngest join the session with the N3. Youssouf Assogba is undergoing rehabilitation with physiotherapist David Das Neves. The Beninese finally touches the ball.
Bernard Gimenez moved and discreet
With the 10 supporters present this morning at Haillan, one of them was unique. Sunglasses, bomber jackets, and a navy and white scarf neatly placed around his neck, it's Bernard Gimenez (58 years old). Triple French Champion from Bordeaux in D1 in 1985 and 1987, and D2 in 1992, he also won the French Cup with the Girondins in 1987 for the double. Discreet, we feel the emotion in his face and his words when he talks to us about Haillan, what the club has become, and the current season. Of course, we happily chat together for a good hour while watching the players train. He hardly misses any Girondins de Bordeaux matches on TV or at the stadium sometimes.
Gimenez arrived at the Girondins at the age of 9 before signing professionally at Bordeaux. That's 92 games with the Navy and White at the defensive midfielder position during a golden period for FCGB. We offer to represent members of the club that we know. Modest and discreet, he declines. He brightens the morning of the supporters present with his kindness and his experiences which he shares sensitively. It's not every day that an illustrious FCGB player attends and talks passionately about the club with the fans.
Bernard Gimenez from behind watching training:
A very complete group, Grillot tested on the side
Bruno Irlès, as usual, favors the game with oppositions on half-field, then on quarter-field with themes. He insists on passing to the sides and spreading the play. The same winger as last week is still on trial. His name and his background are well hidden by the club which maintains discretion about him. He seems more comfortable than last Wednesday.
We note the use of Grillot at the right-back position, and also in central defense with Diaw in order to work on automatisms. Diaw has the advantage of playing left axis, which gives both Yambéré and Grillot confidence. In addition, Diaw shows his quality with his head, Bahassa puts as much intensity as in a match. We feel a special atmosphere this Wednesday, as if a little life had returned. The intensity is quite high during this training, it plays quickly and well. Irlès will congratulate his players at the end of the session.
Training ends with Andy Carroll attempting a penalty in front of Lassana Diabaté. The young goalkeeper diverts the ball onto the bar and exults, raising his arms! Both men smile. The group lives well.
