Rough night in Riez, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. This Wednesday, December 4, shortly after midnight, a single car was involved in a traffic accident on departmental road 11, known as the Quinson road.
According to our information, the vehicle hit the shoulder, causing several rollovers. Inside, two passengers: the 24-year-old driver who was slightly injured, and a 52-year-old man who had to be extricated by emergency services.
Around fifteen firefighters from Riez and Puimoisson, supported by a firefighter doctor and a doctor from Samu 04, were mobilized to come to their aid.
The younger of the two victims was transported to the Digne-les-Bains hospital, while the second, more seriously injured, was evacuated to the Manosque hospital center in order to be immediately helicoptered towards the Marseille North Hospital.
On site where the road was temporarily closed to traffic while the rescuers intervened, Christophe Bianchi, the husband of Riez, and the national gendarmerie were also present.
An investigation was opened to better understand the causes of the accident and was entrusted to the Moustiers-Sainte-Marie gendarmerie brigade.
