The wheel is turning at Tournefeuille Rugby, with the planned stop by the three coaches John Dexpert, Joffrey Maylin and Mathieu Richard, who have contributed a lot to the players and the club. The club wishes them to fully enjoy their families, and knows that they will remain close to the players and come back to watch them play.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 season, a new team of coaches for the senior group has been put in place with the arrival of Laurent Jalabert in collaboration with the four other coaches. Laurent knows the club very well having already played and coached there. He has extensive coaching experience (FCTT, l’Isle Jourdain, Saint Lys).

A specific role for each coach

“The training sessions will be prepared together,” explains Laurent Jalabert. “I will be on the field while leaving the initiative to the coaches in the specific. The game plan and the collective part will be my priority. Tournefeuille has a DNA focused on the game, we absolutely have to keep it while putting more fights in the forward game and especially a game plan and a strategy in what we do. The best performers in the positions will play, young veterans it doesn’t matter, it’s up to them to show what they are capable of.”

Romain Auque and Mathieu Gratton, who coached the Dos this season, are moving up to the first team. “This year, with the reserve team, has fulfilled me both in terms of human adventure and sport, underlines Romain Auque. Next season, a great challenge awaits us. The values that I want to see prosper are solidarity, kindness and respect within the group.”

Team 2 will be coached by a new duo composed of Francis Esteves who arrives from Saint-Lys and will be the backs coach as well as Gaëtan Brachet who will coach the forwards. “For me, it’s a new beginning where we have to question ourselves with sporting objectives, he explains. The goal of this new year is to cultivate a good atmosphere with the notions of respect, living together and competition which is for me the excitement of a team sport. It’s up to all of us to do everything, coaches, players, presidents, volunteers to achieve the objectives on the national championships”, he concludes.
