A motorist deliberately ran over a cyclist who was lying on the ground in Winterthur (ZH) after a violent argument with him. The latter was seriously injured. The driver fled the scene. The police have launched an appeal for witnesses.

The “attempted homicide” occurred on Monday evening shortly before 7:30 p.m. in Oberwinterthur, in the northeast of the city, the Zurich cantonal police wrote on Tuesday. An argument broke out near a red light between the 34-year-old cyclist and the driver, who is unknown to this day.

This altercation resulted in the fall of the thirty-year-old, a German national. The driver then drove off, running over the cyclist in the process, and fled at high speed, without worrying about the injured person.

The exact circumstances of the altercation and attempted murder are the subject of a criminal investigation. An appeal for witnesses has been launched. The car involved is probably a white Audi limousine, police say.
