The cantons of Geneva, Vaud and Friborg combined their efforts during the Sharing Saturday operation last weekend, enabling the collection of 320 tonnes of food and hygiene products. This collection for vulnerable people sets a record. Last June, the process made it possible to collect 296 tonnes of donations.

For its second participation, the canton of Friborg collected 31 tonnes, while the canton of Vaud recorded an increase of 24% compared to November 2023, with 87 tonnes. In Geneva, the harvest reached more than 202 tonnes, +2% compared to last year. “These results are the result of an exceptional mobilization of the French-speaking population, who generously committed themselves to supporting the most deprived,” rejoice the organizers.

The food collected will be sent this week to partner food banks, which will be responsible for sorting, storing and redistributing it to families in need via local associations and social services. The next edition of Sharing Saturday will be held on June 13 and 14, 2025.
