According to the report from the Observatory of Inequalities, Ille-et-Vilaine is one of the French departments where the poverty rate is the lowest. But no territory is spared. Large cities, rural communities and coastal towns have vulnerable populations.

Like every end of the year, the Observatory of Inequalities publishes its report on poverty. The poverty rate is the share of the population whose income is below the poverty line. In this study, this threshold is set at 60% of the median standard of living, or around €1,200 per month (after taxes and social benefits), for a single person.
