Despite a long mobilization last year for an emergency plan in Seine-Saint-Denis, nothing seems to have changed in the department's schools. Monday December 2, 2024, a window from the Joliot-Curie college in Stains fell, injuring the assistant director. The staff exercised their right of withdrawal.
Serious injuries
The window has fell on the head of the administrative assistant according to a press release from the college staff, “inflicting serious injuries requiring emergency treatment in the trauma department at the hospital.
“Knowing that the same model of window is present in the rooms on the ground floor, notably a taped window in one of the rooms, we invoked our right of withdrawal,” say the victim’s colleagues.
In a tweet, the rectorate claims to provide “all its support” to the injured person. “The rectorate immediately contacted the department’s services which carried out a complete window check“, he adds.
For its part, the department announces the holding an investigation to understand the causes of this incident.
Since October 2023, establishments in Seine-Saint-Denis have been warning about the dilapidated building and the examples of incidents are multiplying: middle schools taking on water (in Clichy and Saint-Denis) or even a high school left without heating or electricity in the middle of winter in Aulnay-sous-Bois.
