Limoges Mayor Attacked by NFP Activists

The Les Républicains mayor of Limoges, Émile-Roger Lombertie, was violently attacked on Sunday evening, around 8:30 p.m., in the square of the Hôtel de Ville. He was beaten and insulted while trying to put out a barbecue lit by demonstrators celebrating the results of the New Popular Front. Damien Maudet (NFP – LFI), Stéphane Delautrette (NFP – PS) and Manon Meunier (NFP – LFI), the three outgoing deputies of Haute-Vienne, were re-elected. According to his entourage and witnesses, the mayor was beaten and insulted by about fifteen individuals when he went down the steps of the Hôtel de Ville to stop the barbecue. Émile-Roger Lombertie tried to put out the flames with water from the fountain in the square and was then insulted and punched.

According to France Bleu Limousin, these are not activists of the New Popular Front but demonstrators belonging to one or more ultra-left, anti-fascist collectives. However, given the NFP candidates, it seems that these are the same people…

The city hall has indicated that the mayor will not file a complaint. “to avoid stirring up an already complicated context”. Sic. Fear of reprisals?
