The President of the Republic carried out a slight government reshuffle following the election of Malick Ndiaye as President of the National Assembly. This was an opportunity for Bassirou Diomaye Faye to renew his confidence in Ousmane Sonko, Prime Minister.

Immediately after this announcement, Ousmane Sonko expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for the renewed trust. In his speech, he underlined the need to mobilize “all the living forces of the nation” to carry out the ambitious transformation project carried by the vision of a sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal.

The Prime Minister clarified that his government will focus on urgent economic and social challenges. Among the priorities, he mentioned the success of the agricultural marketing campaign, the fight against the high cost of living, and the improvement of the purchasing power of the Senegalese.

According to Ousmane Sonko, the year 2025 will be marked by a recovery in public finances, in particular thanks to the adoption of the budget, and by the optimal exploitation of national resources to revive the economy. He also emphasized the need to strengthen accountability, as well as the modernization of health, educational, agricultural and industrial systems and the promotion of citizenship and employability of young people, while working for the empowerment of women.

The Prime Minister promised to ensure increased protection for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities. He also assured his support to the national private sector, while encouraging the emergence of leaders in all sectors. This approach is part of the logic of the law on economic sovereignty, based on the principle of patriotism.

Finally, Ousmane Sonko recalled the importance of promoting the lands and territories of Senegal, with the activation of regional centers in a dynamic of consolidating living together and strengthening security. He also promised to restore confidence in young people by offering them opportunities for training, investment and success within the country.
