Parthenay launches its Christmas festivities. While the City has finished deploying its illuminations in the city center, which will be launched on Friday December 6, 2024 in the evening, the third new Christmas market has been announced, from Friday December 13 to Sunday December 15, 2024.
Monday, December 2, the traditional large fir tree from the municipal gardens, located in Pompaire, took place on the esplanade of the convention center. An esplanade which is preparing to be the scene of the great new features of the City's Christmas events, third formula.
Grand inaugural parade Friday December 13 in the evening
Among the five villages announced (detailed program below), the starting point of the Georges-Pompidou esplanade, in the extension of the Place du Drapeau, will, in fact, be one of the attractions with its new “enchanted forest “. Here, around forty fir trees and a giant light bubble will invite you to stroll, among reindeer and bear cubs. And a family treasure hunt concocted by the Cité des jeux will be organized there.
“The idea was that the reception area would be more attractive to bring families together and to ensure that they start their visit to the Christmas market here, by accentuating the bright and magical aspect,” says Christophe Guinfolleau, head of the commerce department of the City of Parthenay.
Then, on the way to the different villages, following the maze of streets and their “path of light” with some twenty-five light poles designed by Jean-Phi Arnault, the local metal artist among the founders of the Soud'art festival de Parthenay who made last year's braziers.
With a total budget of €36,000 for its Christmas market and €25,390 (excluding taxes) for rental for its illuminations (plus €1,000 in energy consumption), the City is also renewing the children's village (with its Santa Claus house) in place of Bancs, the gourmet village with guinguette on Place de la Saunerie, the village of creators and craftsmen at Logis Férolle with the Ré-créations association, and its village of flavors at Place Moque-Souris. “Including the associated artists from the Saint-Jacques district, around sixty artisans will be brought together”, announces Chantal Rivault, deputy mayor of Parthenay in charge of town planning, heritage and local commerce.
As for entertainment, in addition to the inaugural parade to launch the festivities, Friday December 13 in the evening, with the Aicom company, back after last year, two parades per day are announced for Saturday 14 and Sunday 15, with the Parthenaisian academy of Bouyer dance.
