No petit fours in January 2025 at Haras de Jardy, in Marnes-la-Coquette (92). The departmental councils of Hauts-de-Seine and Yvelines, which have been organizing common wishes since 2016 by inviting elected officials but also “qualified” personalities from the two territories, have decided to give up this festive meeting for financial reasons. Until then, the traditional vows had only been canceled once, in January 2021, in the midst of the Covid crisis.
“Faced with a constrained budgetary context which affects all departments, and from which Hauts-de-Seine is not exempt, the department has decided not to organize a greeting ceremony this year,” explains laconically, in a press release , the community which puts forward “an approach of responsibility and control of public spending”.
Same story for Yvelines, which implemented a sobriety plan from September 2023 and explains having “divided representation costs by four this year”. Faced with a significant drop in their revenue, with the fall in transfer taxes, the two departments will save nearly 250,000 euros by renouncing the wishes.
This is not the first economic budget decision carried out by the two presidents (LR), Georges Siffredi for Hauts-de-Seine and Pierre Bédier for Yvelines. A few weeks ago, the interdepartmental investment solidarity fund (Fs2i), which was put on hold for the year 2025 “while waiting for better days”.
