101 new police officers assigned to the and Pas-de-

A ceremony was organized this Monday morning in the courtyard of the Police Hall to welcome the 101 new police officers assigned to the and Pas-de-. Some of them have just finished the police academy, others are former auxiliary police officers. These young police officers come from all over , many from our region but also from , , Island among others.

Their arrival is in addition to the 61 reinforcements already arrived in Nord-Pas-de-Calais in July 2024. These numbers were planned within the framework of the Programming Orientation Law of the Ministry of the Interior dating from January 2023 which provides for the creation, at the national level, of 8,500 new positions in five years.

In accordance with the announcements made on Friday, November 29 by the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau during his trip to the coast, 78 of these new police officers are assigned to the Border Police in the North and Pas de Calais, particularly in the Administrative Detention Centers of Coquelles and Lesquin as part of the fight against illegal immigration. There are 65 assigned to the Coquelles center. 23 other police officers are assigned to the districts of , Lille and .

25 police officers for public security missions in Calais and Dunkirk

During the ceremony organized in honor of these new police officers, the prefect of the North and prefect of the Hauts-de-France region recalled that 25 additional police officers will also be assigned to the Dunkirk and Calais police stations for public security missions, an area which has sometimes suffered from the migration situation which keeps the police busy:At the Calais police station, for example, hours of public security mission could have been taken up by the mission to combat illegal immigration. This means that we must also put the priority back on everyday security, that is to say the fight against burglaries or against intra-family violence for example..”
