The VB 52 Haute- reserve missed out on valuable points, Sunday 1is December, Jean-Masson room, against Molsheim, a direct rival for maintenance (2-3). A duel badly experienced by the Cévebistes, who nevertheless seemed to have control of the game.

For the young Tom Michel Douchet (20 years old), this season is truly the first that he can fully compete at this level. The libero from Chaumont VB 52 Haute-Marne, who grew up with this jersey in the different youth categories, knows that this reservist group is capable of performing much more convincingly.

jhmquotidien: What will you remember from this match against Molsheim?

Tom Michel Douchet: “First of all, it’s a lot of regrets! We had put in all the ingredients to win this duel, and we lost it at the end of the fourth set which was within our reach. We offered them victory. Everything was going well, we even had a pretty good match. And then the machine jammed. We started typing “straight into the block”. However, we had the opportunities: the reception was good, the distribution too, but we no longer found the solutions. Obviously, doubt set in and they took us into a “tie-break” which we could have largely avoided. »

jhmquotidien: Why didn't you know how to react in this fifth set?

T. M. D. : “The loss of the fourth round inevitably had a psychological impact on the rest. We started to doubt a little more, while they fell into a kind of euphoria. They had come a long way and took full advantage of the opportunity. We are a young team and we certainly paid for this lack of experience in the final. »

jhmquotidien: The match also started badly…

T. M. D. : “Again, it’s quite inexplicable that we couldn’t find our game quickly. We are used to these failed starts. But the main thing was to have been able, from the next round, to resume with a quality game. »

Undeniable progress

jhmquotidien: Exactly, are you able to draw anything positive from this defeat?

T. M. D. : “It's always difficult, just after the match when the emotions are still very present, but it's true that for almost three sets, we produced quality volleyball. It is also proof that the group has progressed a lot since the start of the season. We are working for this and I am convinced that we will manage to obtain more convincing results against opponents who beat us in the first leg. This is what we hope to demonstrate later: that we can take many more points than we have collected so far. »

jhmquotidien: At 20, how are you experiencing this new experience?

T. M. D. : “I was already able to join the reserve team in N3, two years ago, then at the start of last season in N2 before a knee injury which excluded me from the group. This time, I'm taking full advantage of my real first experience with this team. It's a pleasure because I grew up with this jersey and this club. Today there are four or five players in the group who have been trained at CVB 52. For us, it is always an honor to wear these colors and to play in front of supporters who have come to encourage us. Against Molsheim, the public once again made a lot of noise to support us and that obviously supports us, even if we would have preferred to offer them another result. »
