With a 1083 vote lead over Gaëtan Inard (LR/RN), Christophe Bex (New Popular Front) retains his seat as deputy.

The blow was so low… but did not knock the legendary cap off of the outgoing MP Christophe Bex (New Popular Front). At the end of a grueling suspense experienced at the Pierre-Satge hall in Muret, he was able to announce his victory over his opponent Gaëtan Inard (LR-Ciotti-Rassemblement National alliance) with a score of 50.78%, a difference of 1,083 votes. While the rural areas in the south of the 7th constituency voted overwhelmingly for the LR-FN coalition, the incumbent’s victory is assured in major towns such as Muret (52
,37%) Cugnaux, Villeneuve-Tolosane, Seysses and Frouzins. But until the end of the evening, the results fluctuated. We had to wait until 10 p.m. to know the truth of the verdict of the ballot boxes. “I knew it was going to be close. It’s a somewhat bitter victory given the score of the National Rally. My satisfaction is nevertheless present even if the situation remains complicated”, specified Christophe Bex before meeting his supporters in the Horizon room. At the same time, André Mandement, mayor, announced the results of Muret. If the participation did not decline and remains at 66%, the score has however shifted. Since in this second round, Christophe Bex comes out on top with 52.37% of the votes (5478 votes) against 47.63% for Gaëtan Inard (4983 votes). A score which delights the chief magistrate of the city, André Mandement: “The message conveyed in recent days to the responsible and moderate Muretains is there. Muret remains the city where democracy, living together, fraternity are lived on a daily basis. The Muretains could not engage in an adventure which would have only shattered our common values”, he concluded by congratulating Christophe Bex, assuring “to continue together the work undertaken”.
For Gaëtan Inard, “this is not a vote by default but rather a commitment to a project, built around three priorities: purchasing power, the fight against insecurity and the reduction of immigration. Unfortunately, this evening victory narrowly escaped us in this territory. Given the national results, this is a historically high score in Haute-Garonne and even more so in the 7th constituency. This is a mixed victory for my opponent: mayors, elected officials and the president of the department threw all their weight behind him to get him elected, and yet he only achieved barely more than 50% of the vote in a context of progress of the left at the national level.
