RN Serge Muller elected in the 2nd constituency of Dordogne

The first National Rally MP elected in the department in 2022, Serge Muller was running for re-election. He came out on top in the first round, with 42.71%. Aged 48, born in Var, this son of a docker who lives near Saint-Astier (in the 1st constituency) had a career as a nursing assistant in the hospital public service. “We had to fight our way through,” he admits about the hostility of other elected officials towards the RN during his first term. He campaigned a lot on security issues, convinced that “people want to find the peace and quiet of the countryside again, as it was before.”

Aged 58, mayor of Calès since 2016 and regional councilor, Christophe Cathus came in 2nd place in the first round, with 28.27%. A member of the Socialist Party, we remember that he entered into dissidence in 2022, by running at the same time as Nupes. In order to turn this page of disunity on the left, he had taken as his substitute this time the ecologist Mathilde Bache. He intended to propose an “alternative to the xenophobic and antisocial project of the National Rally but also to Macronie, whose results are calamitous on the economic and social levels as well as on the method, without possible dialogue.”
