The mayor of Dijon congratulates Océane Godard, Pierre Pribetich and Catherine Hervieu.

Press release from the City of Dijon dated July 7, 2024:

In a context of extreme political tension, I welcome this evening’s results with great satisfaction.

The fierce campaign of the 2nd round allowed the RN to be contained in third place. I am proud that Dijon, a progressive city, mobilized massively with a participation close to 70% to put the extreme right and the conservative right in a clear minority in the city.

I would like to congratulate Pierre Pribetich and Océane Godard, both members of my municipal majority. The strong voice of Pierre Pribetich will carry high the values of social democracy in the National Assembly, and whose experience will be particularly useful. As for Océane Godard, also on a social and democratic line, she will bring to Parliament her determination and her youth. I am certain of their ability to defend the interests of our territory. I extend my congratulations to Catherine Hervieu who benefits from the Republican withdrawal of the outgoing Deputy. I hope she does not forget it.

At the national level, the unprecedented mobilization of the French since 1981 relegates the National Rally far from the majority it had hoped to achieve. The time has come for the social democrats and all republicans to come together, in the interest of France and the French people.

In the adversity of the last few weeks, the French have spoken out: the solution is not found in radicalism but in responding to the problems that have been expressed. It is therefore now appropriate to consider how France will have to be governed from tomorrow.

I call on the leaders of the government party formations to create the conditions for a broad national coalition and thus avoid a situation of political deadlock in the country which would be detrimental to France and the French people.

We must find the will to move forward in order to move forward together serenely, in the interests of the French people and for the honour of France.

FRANÇOIS REBSAMEN,
MAYOR OF DIJON, PRESIDENT OF DIJON METROPOLE

In Côte-d’Or, three deputies from the New Popular Front, one from the Republicans and one from the National Rally were elected.
