RC Vannes signs Tani Vili

RC Vannes, recently promoted to the Top 14, made official this Sunday the arrival of French international center Tani Vili for the next two seasons. Aged 23 and measuring 1.87 m, Vili joins Vannes after a mixed season at Bordeaux-Bègles where he only played five matches, mainly during the doubles periods.

This recruitment is an important step for the Breton club, which is actively preparing for its first season among the elite of French rugby. Tani Vili, born in Brive, began his professional career at Clermont at just 18 years old. He then joined Bordeaux-Bègles in 2022, after being selected for the French XV tour of Japan, although he did not have the opportunity to play.

Vili’s transfer has been the subject of speculation this week. Union Bordeaux-Bègles had initially announced his departure for La Rochelle, but the club from La Rochelle quickly denied this information, specifying that they had only approached the player without concluding an agreement. In the end, it was RC Vannes who managed to secure the services of this promising talent.

In a statement, Tani Vili expressed his enthusiasm for taking on this new challenge: “The Top 14 is a new challenge for the club and I myself need to take on new challenges. I am looking forward to starting the season and showing, both personally and collectively, that we can establish ourselves at the very highest level.”

For Vannes, this signing is a strong sign of its ambitions. By recruiting a young and experienced player like Vili, the club shows its determination to not only stay in the Top 14, but also to play a significant role there. Vannes supporters are now eagerly awaiting the start of the season to see their new recruit at work and hope that Tani Vili will be able to bring all his energy and talent to the team.
