The risk of violent thunderstorms returns in force to end the day on Saturday, after a short lull.

During the night from Friday to Saturday morning, several areas suffered damage due to storms. Lightning, torrential rain, floods, flash floods or destroyed sections of road: this is what residents of the south and west of the province, mainly, had to deal with.

Here we go for the second impulse

After a short respite, this same scenario could repeat itself again Saturday afternoon and evening. Indeed, a risk of thunderstorms is in effect for the vast majority of the province (except for the Lower North Shore and a small part of the Gaspé). Severe thunderstorms are even possible for the Outaouais, the Laurentians, the Eastern Townships and the Montérégie.

This risk of thunderstorms will persist throughout the day on Saturday and should be at its peak on Saturday evening.

The main threats are heavy rain, large hailstones and strong gusts. As was the case on Friday night and Saturday morning, this could again lead to flash floods or road closures, for example.

On this subject, at the time of writing, some roads are closed due to flooding. In Beauceville, where a considerable amount of rain fell: more than 50 mm in one hour, three road segments are closed or open alternately.

The scenario is similar on the Chaudière-Appalaches side, where a segment of Route 283 is open alternately.
