“We are a few days from the start of a national conflict among railway workers: a call for a strike from Wednesday, December 11 at 7 p.m. » declares Jean-Christophe Vialaret, Secretary General of the PCFof the Lot with at his side William Gout, member of the PCF Lot departmental executive member of theassociation All together for stations et Laurent Moskalik, railway worker, member of the PCF departmental leadershipof the Lot.
They call for a massive commitment from the State to modernize the network and preserve public service.
POLT line: an alarming deterioration
The Communist Party reaffirms its support for the railway workers' strike movement which comes at a time when the management of the SNCF is operating, in their eyes, as “a breakdown of the public rail service”. The three men list the blows dealt to the SNCF tool under the guise of modernity. “Opening rail to competition is not working and the United Kingdom, which believed it was performing well in this area, is going backwards! » underlines Laurent Moskalik. And William Gout adds by describing an “unprecedented” deterioration of the POLT line, which combines insufficient maintenance, a lack of upkeep of the tracks and surrounding areas with the glaring obsolescence of the equipment. They note in passing the consecutive postponements of the delivery of the trains of the Oxygène train. The contract, signed in 2019, should see the first trainsets leave the factory in 2025. Then will come the approval tests on the national rail network for a period of 3 to 4 months, suggesting entry into service in 2026.
Work over 6 months: travelers penalized
Another reason for dissatisfaction is the organization described as “disastrous” of the work on the POLT line, planned for 6 months starting next April. This project between Paris and Orléans will result in the elimination of 8 round-trip trains during the day on the POLT line. “Travelers will be heavily penalized by this work, even if a return to normal should occur during the summer period,” specifies William Gout. “It is possible to carry out work while maintaining train circulation, except that at that time, it is not possible to call on subcontracting companies, which themselves often call on foreign labor! » denounce the communist activists. The members of the PCF are calling for the development of the train, which supports the fight against greenhouse gases. They also protest against the opening of French railway lines to competition. “We are repeating the same mistakes made at the beginning of the 20th centurye century ! » they are indignant. The dismantling of SNCF freight from December 31 also sounds for PCF representatives “like a contradiction in terms of history”. Jean-Christophe Vialaret exclaimed: “On the one hand we are asking individuals to make efforts to save the planet and on the other we are eliminating rail freight, to increase the number of trucks on our roads; It’s always a question of money that comes first! » The three PCF activists end their intervention by solemnly demanding the end of any contract opening up to competition and the return to an integrated public company SNCF. Finally, they call for a strong commitment from the State at the rate of 10 billion euros per year for 20 years, to modernize the country's entire railway infrastructure, so as to meet the challenges of the future. of the planet.
