The accident occurred in the middle of the afternoon in Marmande and caused no injuries. The passengers could not be picked up until 11 p.m.
Friday November 29, 12:33 p.m. In Paris, around 1,000 people board a OuiGo heading to Toulouse. Their arrival in Haute-Garonne is scheduled exactly five hours later.
Ultimately, as Le Parisien reports, nothing went as planned. And for good reason, in the middle of the afternoon, the train hit a vehicle on the railway tracks not far from Marmande, in Lot-et-Garonne. According to Sud-Ouest, the OuiGo came into contact with the front of a car on a level crossing. The driver was not injured and was able to escape.
The accident caused traffic to be interrupted and travelers to be stranded for long hours.
“We are waiting in the cold”
“I'm in a Paris-Toulouse (which should have been 12:33 p.m.-5:33 p.m.) blocked since 3:45 p.m. It's been 7 hours,” said Anne Toumazoff, an Internet user, on X at 10:45 p.m. “1,200 people. Babies, elderly people, & still no supplies. Dropped off at Marmande station 1 hour 15 minutes ago, we are waiting in the cold and without information for a solution.”
Questioned by Le Parisien, the SNCF “regrets the situation experienced by customers between Langon and Marmande this Friday afternoon” and indicates that the passengers were able to leave on board a train “specially prepared and supplied with water and meal boxes” around 11 p.m.
For any delay greater than or equal to two hours, SNCF undertakes to reimburse 50% of the ticket amount. Given the circumstances of this Paris-Toulouse, travelers are demanding a full refund of their trip.
