The 7th Rencontres de l'Oise Rurale allowed us to discuss subjects that concern all mayors, in particular security and video protection with a presentation of the departmental supervision center.
The Pommery room in Clermont welcomed around 300 elected officials, mayors, departmental councilors and parliamentarians from Oise on the occasion of the 7es Oise Rurale meetings organized by the Departmental Council this Tuesday, November 26.
Ce “privileged moment of exchanges with the mayors of rural communities”as President Nadège Lefebvre explained at the start of the session, made it possible to address various points that affect the daily lives of elected officials in the region and to think about solutions together. The afternoon was organized around discussions on different themes that affect the daily lives of mayors.
The first discussed being security with a very particular point on the departmental supervision center (CSD). On stage, Christophe Dietrich, president of the Syndicat Mixte Oise Très Haut Débit (SMOTHD), recalled that this departmental center was the first to have seen the light of day in France.

« We hope to quickly reach 200 municipalities”
“The idea appeared in 2015, specifies the one who is also mayor of Laigneville. It took us two to three years to put it in place, we received two Ministers of the Interior who found the principle very good, but we had to convince because we were starting from nothing. » Today, in 2024, 144 municipalities in Oise have connected their video protection system to the CSD. “It’s still too little, deplores the elected official. We hope to quickly reach 200 municipalities. »
Within this center, trained agents review camera images at the request of certain mayors, but also of law enforcement, which helps resolve investigations in certain cases:
“It’s an absolutely fantastic tool that I discovered when I arrived in Oise. This project also made it possible to change the laws. Our gendarmes have maps of the municipalities linked to the CSD and use them regularly. The real problem we face is the fact that many municipalities are not connected to the center, which still does not allow sufficient coverage. It happens that, thanks to images, we can pursue a vehicle that has committed a crime, but that we lose it as soon as it leaves the municipality because the neighboring one either does not have video protection, or has it, but is not connected. »

Connection is free
“All the measures that can be put in place in addition to the intervention of the gendarmes have a deterrent side for the perpetrators of delinquency”she insists. For Nadège Lefebvre, it is important that mayors use this free aid.
“Installing cameras represents a real financial cost and we are aware of this,” explains the President of the Department. We are keen to help them by subsidizing these projects up to 40%. But connection to the CSD is free so we invite equipped and unconnected municipalities to do so. It’s a real help in the daily life of mayors. » As a reminder, Oise has 680 municipalities.
