“It was a block of pain and tears,” describes his lawyer, Me Jacques Chambaud. Tuesday November 26, 2024, the Bordeaux criminal court examined a case of involuntary homicide dating from April 3, 2022 in Balizac. A fatal accident that shook an entire village.
Trembling at the helm, Jacques, 29, is consumed by guilt. Nothing can change the fact that, that night, while drunk, he killed his best friend, David Bordessoules, by hitting him as he was returning home to Saint-Symphorien.
“It’s an unimaginable intersection of causal circumstances,” summarizes with a sigh, Me Jacques Chambaud, Jacques’ lawyer.”
They were like brothers. Inseparable. Same classes, a few years apart. Same football club, same passion for fishing, nature, rugby. When one's mother died, the other was by her side. And vice versa for the other's father.
On Saturday, Jacques and David spent the morning fishing before having a bite to eat at the association. They then attended the football match in Villandraut, as interested in the score as in the refreshment bar. “What follows is an unimaginable intersection of causal circumstances,” summarizes M with a sigh.e Jacques Chambaud, Jacques' lawyer. “Both their phones were dead, they could no longer reach each other. »
“A powerfully dramatic affair”
After the meeting, Jacques went to a bar, joined David in the street, lost sight of him. Then he came back to look for it to bring it back but didn't find it. So, tipsy, he took his car to return home to Saint-Symphorien. It was there that he thought he had “hit a deer”, while continuing on his way.
But it was David who was walking home, drunk in the night, in the middle of the road. Jacques had confirmation of this when he returned to the scene when he saw the emergency lights flashing. He was also tried for hit and run but the court did not take action. “He did not try to avoid his responsibilities,” explains his lawyer. “He didn’t want to see his friend’s body in the middle of the road. »
In the courtroom, everyone knows each other. “No one wants to overwhelm anyone, it’s a powerfully dramatic affair,” notes Me Charles Dufranc, lawyer for the deceased's sister. To the four years, including two years, and deferred incarceration, requested by the public prosecutor, the court preferred a sentence of three years, including one year, to be served under electronic monitoring. His license was revoked.
