Visits, conferences, workshops… The summer promises to be rich in events in the capital of Gers and its agglomeration. The opportunity to discover the program of the Country of Art and History.

The Grand Auch Cœur de Gascogne agglomeration and the Pays d’art et d’histoire offer a packed summer programme to discover the local heritage, aimed at tourists and residents of the department.

Impromptu discovery tours

Enjoy a few lines of local history for free in just 30 minutes. Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m., from July 16 to the end of August.

Auch Cathedral

Meet in front of the cathedral where 30-minute exterior tours, free and without reservation, will be offered on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m., from July 20 to the end of August (except August 24). Other 1 hour 15 minute tours are planned with access to the interior of the cathedral. They are organized every Monday in July and August (except August 19).

Sainte-Marie Cathedral contains many treasures, such as the stained glass windows by Arnaud de Moles.
DDM – WHAT IS DEBBICHE

At the foot of the Armagnac tower, Place Salinis, a visit to the remains of the primitive cathedral is planned, lasting 1 hour 15 minutes. The visits will take place every other Tuesday at 3 p.m., from July 9 to the end of August.

D’Artagnan, myth or reality?

At the foot of the statue of d’Artagnan, in the monumental staircase, Pays d’art et d’histoire offers a discovery of the “true false story of Charles de Batz de Castelmore”. The visit lasts 30 minutes, it is free and without reservation. The visits will take place every other Thursday at 11:30 a.m., from July 18 to the end of August.

Behind the scenes at Place Salinis

At the foot of the Armagnac Tower, tours of the underside of Place Salinis are offered. They will last 30 minutes, will be free and without reservation, every other Thursday at 11:30 a.m., from July 25 to the end of August.

An Italian-style theatre

The meeting point is in front of the Auch town hall, to discover the theater hidden behind its walls. Visits last 30 minutes, are free and without reservation. Visits scheduled every Monday in July and August at 3:30 p.m.

Museum of the Americas-Auch

Guided tours of approximately 1.5 hours are scheduled in the museum, every Friday in July and August at 3.30 p.m.

The museum also offers the chance to discover the second largest pre-Columbian collection in France for 1 hour 15 minutes every other Tuesday at 3 p.m., from July 2 to the end of August.

The guided tour of the museum lasts approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and is available every other Tuesday at 3 p.m., from July 9 to the end of August.

Auch, heart of the city

Meet in front of the tourist office for a tour of the heart of the city, to learn about its history and architecture. Tours last 1 hour 15 minutes and will take place every Wednesday in July and August (except August 21).

Criminal

Meet in front of the tourist office. These tours will allow you to discover the dark stories that have marked the city of Auch, from the Middle Ages to the present day. They last about 1 hour 30 minutes, every Sunday in July and August at 6 p.m.

Parent-child heritage workshops

The activity “Oh, the Choir!” will allow families to make a clay sculpture inspired by the bestiary of the cathedral stalls. The sessions take place on Friday, July 19 and Fridays, August 2, 16, and 30 at 2:30 p.m.

In the second activity, “Blason et Compagnie!”, children will learn the techniques of heraldry and create a coat of arms on a shield. The sessions take place on Friday, July 26 and Fridays, August 9 and 23 at 2:30 p.m. Each workshop lasts 2.5 hours.

Le Clued’Auch

A team of specialists reopens a 350-year-old investigation into the mysterious death of a musketeer during Louis XIV’s stay in Auch. Participants solve puzzles by exploring the city and collecting testimonies. Sessions will take place every Monday at 9 p.m., from July 15 to the end of August. The game lasts 2 hours. Reservations required.

Cluedo® giant night

Participants investigate the mysterious death of Jules Fourcade in Antras, as a team, to identify the culprit, his motive and the modus operandi. Sessions take place on Friday, July 19 and Friday, August 9 at 9 p.m. The game lasts 2 hours, with arrival 15 minutes before the start. The meeting place is kept secret and communicated when collecting tickets. Reservations are required and tickets must be collected from the tourist office before 6 p.m. on the same day.

Rock Paper Scissors

On Tuesday, July 23 and Tuesdays, August 6 and 20, at 2:30 p.m., a stone cutting workshop is planned. Children and parents will first discover the history and art of stone cutting, before making a bas-relief themselves. The activity will last 2 hours 30 minutes.

Light and colors

On Tuesdays, July 16 and 30 and August 13 and 27, at 2:30 p.m., a stained glass creation workshop is planned. Just before, participants will go and discover the stained glass windows of Arnaud de Moles in the cathedral.
