An eagerly awaited event for lovers of the little yellow ball for over 30 years, the Baudino summer tournament, organized by the Saint-Raphaël Country Club (SRCC), takes off this Saturday.

This 36th edition will be a milestone since it will be the last to be played on the courts of Boulevard Baudino. The City has indeed decided to sell these lands to a real estate developer who should begin work in late 2024 or early 2025. At the same time, the municipality has started the construction of a new site, Boulevard de l’Aspé. A site dedicated to tennis, padel and squash and which will be managed by the SRCC.

“This last edition in Baudino is something important for all the members, managers, teachers, explains Sandrine Lanfumey, president of the SRCC. A few days before the start, we passed the 450 registrants mark. We should be in line with 2023 with nearly 700 participants. We want to make this last edition a great celebration, a major event, in terms of the welcome, the quality of the infrastructure, the programming and the friendliness within the club house. And we are on good auspices as far as the weather is concerned. I would like to thank the City of Saint-Raphaël for their help as well as the Wilson company which will provide the balls”.

Finals on July 21

On the sporting front, there are the traditional categories for both women and men: 11/12 years, 13/14 years, 15/16 years, seniors, +35 years and +45 years. Also with the categories 17/18 years, +55 years and +65 years for men. The entire program will be provided by referee Robin Thivollet who, in the event of bad weather, will have the possibility of transferring matches to the Roland-Garros courts located on Boulevard de l’Aspé. The tournament will end on July 21 with the finals that will determine the successors of Mathilde Trigaux and Mathieu Bolot, winners of the senior categories in 2023.
