Appointed on November 13, 2024 by decree of the President of the Republic, Georges Salaün officially took office as new secretary general of the Côtes-d'Armor prefecture and prefect of the Saint-Brieuc district. He succeeds David Cochu, who took up residence at Place Beauvau as deputy director at the Ministry of the Interior.
Leaving Saint-Cyr
From the name of this 46-year-old senior civil servant, you will have guessed that Brittany is no stranger to Georges Salaün. If he has nothing to do with the personalities bearing the same surname, he is indeed from the region, more precisely from northern Finistère. On the other hand, few things link him specifically to Côtes-d'Armor, other than the grandparents who lived there and the first name of his son, Brieuc.
It was also in Morbihan that he studied at the special military school of Saint-Cyr. After beginning his career in the Army, notably serving in Afghanistan, he became captain of the national gendarmerie. Corps in which he commands the nuclear installation surveillance platoon in Flamanville.
A method: “the collective”
The Finisterian joined the prefectural body and was appointed chief of staff to the prefect of Haute-Vienne in 2018, then of Martinique in 2020. Three years later, he returned to the capital to occupy the position of chief of staff of the delegate minister in charge of Gender Equality Bérangère Couillard, then the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati.
If the former soldier “does not claim to know Côtes-d'Armor”, he has already identified five priority issues: agriculture, revitalization of the city center, green algae and land use planning. Subjects on which he wants to move forward with a slogan: “the collective”. “I would like to have the role of facilitator. As soon as problems arise, the different players must be brought to the table. »
