In January 2024, Ofcom awarded Mystik SA, owner of the Arc Jura channel Canal Alpha, the concession previously held by TeleBielingue, which belongs to the Gassmann group.

Seized by an appeal, the Federal Administrative Court has not yet delivered its verdict. TeleBielingue will be able to continue its activities for at least twelve months.

While the Biel chain continues to develop, the future of its employees is uncertain.
Residents of Biel, the Bernese Jura and Zealand will still have to wait to find out which local television channel will inform them in the future. At the start of the year, the region was shaken by an earthquake when the Federal Office of Communications (Ofcom) awarded the concession until now to Mystik SA, owner of the Jura Arc television station Canal Alpha. from TeleBielingue. Many elected officials in the Icelandic city, including its mayor Erich Fehr, were moved by denouncing an attack on bilingualism. This decision was to take effect on January 1, 2025, but this was without the appeal filed by the Gassmann group, owner of TeleBielingue, before the Federal Administrative Court (TAF).
With the procedure still ongoing, Ofcom granted a transitional license to the Biel-based channel at the end of October. “This is valid from January 1, 2025 until the decision of the TAF. The royalty that will be paid from this date will essentially correspond to that of the new concession, i.e. nearly 3.7 million francs per year (+15%),” specifies a spokesperson for the office. On a proposal from the Gassmann group, the competitors also agreed on a transitional period of twelve months in the event that the TAF decides in favor of Mystik and its project, which aims to create a new offer called Canal B.
