The month of December is full of events to celebrate Christmas in the Rhône Gard and surrounding areas. A brief tour (non-exhaustive) of what will happen in the municipalities.
The month of November is ending, and Christmas is already looming with, throughout the month of December, a host of activities offered in towns and villages.
In Bagnols-sur-Cèze, after the launch of the illuminations on Friday November 29, and the opening of the mini funfair on Saturday November 30 at Place du Posterlon, the Christmas market, with its twenty chalets, will be held from Friday December 13 to Sunday, December 15, on Lacombe Boulevard. For snow sports enthusiasts, it is on the André-Mourgues esplanade that you will have to go from December 13 to take to the ice rink which will also host a free show (“Alice on Ice”, December 18 at 6 p.m. 30 p.m.) and a children’s fiesta (December 23 and January 4). For the first time, on Place Mallet, a show with water jets, lights and music will delight all generations. Among the activities, the Païs nostre exhibition will allow you to immerse yourself in Provençal Christmas traditions, at the Saint-Maur center from December 10 to 21. Festive athletes won't miss the Christmas bullfight on December 30 in the city center (registrations tel 06 84 71 86 52).
Fireworks
From Saturday November 30, Avignon gets into Christmas time, with the lighting of the city and the launch of the artisans' market at the Célestins church (Place des Corps Saints). The opportunity to admire the large nativity scene. From Saturday December 7, the city of the popes will be that of Santa Claus, with many appointments. A magical moment not to be missed, the fireworks from the banks of the Rhône and the Saint-Bénézet bridge on December 23. Please note that parking in the streets of Avignon is free on November 30, November 7 and 14 and from Saturday January 21 to Monday January 6.
A Christmas village will take place on the Champ-de-Mars in Pont-Saint-Esprit, from December 21 to January 5, with activities (farm, parades, rides, gourmet stands, etc.). To greet the New Year, fireworks will be set off on the 1stis January at 6 p.m.
In Laudun, Christmas will be celebrated on December 15 on Place Jules-Ferry with an inflatable toboggan run, music, face painting…
Santa Claus will cross the Ardèche by boat
In villages, Christmas also begins on Sunday 1is December. In Saint-Paul-les-Fonts, the parents' association is organizing its Christmas market at school, with around fifteen exhibitors in the presence of Santa Claus. In Aiguèze, we will witness Santa Claus coming down from the church bell tower and a free show at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., in front of the town hall. On the program for Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche, pony rides, crossing the Ardèche by boat to the Aiguèze market, and at 3:30 p.m., Santa Claus will arrive by boat to launch a festive afternoon which will will end with fireworks over the Ardèche at 6 p.m.
In Saint-Geniès-de-Comolas, many artisans will be present on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1 in the multipurpose room, rides await the children outside, as does Santa Claus for a photo session. To inaugurate it, majorettes will parade on the Place du 11-Novembre.
Concert and musical theater
The Gard Rhone conservatory will give a Christmas concert, Tuesday December 10 at 7 p.m. at the multicultural hall of Bagnols, and Wednesday December 11 at 7 p.m. at the Cazerne de Pont-Saint-Esprit (free entry).
Little ones, aged 3 to 6, will marvel at Alain Bressand's “Christmas concerto”. A show made of songs, object theater… given at the Bagnols media library, on December 4 at 2:30 p.m. Free, upon registration on the media library website.
