It's difficult not to follow in real time the progress of the cogeneration project at the Atemax factory (Akiolis group) in Saint-Langis-les-Mortagne (Orne). The rendering plant wants to implement a new process to transform its animal meal into gas in order to be practically self-sufficient in energy on its site. The start is always set at September 2025. The work is progressing on time, according to the factory.
In 2023, a new car park was created and buildings demolished. Then a platform called Process was built to accommodate the different parts of biomass cogeneration.
No complaints
But with large cranes and pieces almost as tall as the site's chimneys, the project catches the eye. However, it is not the subject of any apparent dispute.
“Do you have any feedback? », asks us a mayor near Mortagne-au-Perche. “For my part I have no complaints, it’s very surprising. »
Akiolis also seems surprised to have received no negative feedback on this project, while L'Air du Perche has been concerned about this project since its launch.
Landscape integration
Note that trees must grow around the gasifier.
The landscape integration of the new unit is a priority subject and the very constructive exchanges between the Project team, the landscape architects and the Town Planning department of Pays du Perche Ornais will lead to an ambitious revegetation plan which will suit the whole stakeholders.
In recent days, work has focused on the deployment of the structures which will support the combustion waste treatment equipment and the gasifier.
Deliveries continue to follow with the arrival of important equipment for the installation: the oxidizer. Arriving in an exceptional convoy, it was mounted on its massifs.
The gasifier body has arrived. The emissions processing tower was also erected.
