“It is a collegial, clear, transparent and equitable political approach that must be adopted. » It is with these words that the elected representatives of the Finistère & Solidaires group, the left-wing opposition of the Finistère departmental council, of which Kévin Faure is a member, challenged, in a letter, Maël de Calan, president of the Department. The subject: subsidies to municipalities. In a press release dated Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the president responds.
“Objective maintained”
On the allocated credits, first: “The objective of 210 million euros over the mandate is still the objective that we set for ourselves, despite the budgetary difficulties we are experiencing. The DMTO (transfer rights arising from real estate transactions, editor's note) set aside in 2021 and 2022 will be used in particular to fulfill this commitment. »

On the method of granting subsidies, then, called into question by the left opposition: “We wanted to replace complexity and opacity with simplicity and transparency. The credits are thus broken down between EPCI (public intermunicipal cooperation establishments) and cantons. pro rata of the population, with a solidarity coefficient. Within each EPCI and each canton, the subsidies are then allocated within the framework of a direct exchange with the mayors, of which we report to them twice a year, in complete transparency, within the framework of the meetings chaired by Gilles Mounier in the fall, and myself in the spring. »
The president concludes his response thus: “I believe I can say that the vast majority of municipal teams welcome and adhere to this new method. »
