a 13-year-old driver arrested, two police officers injured

A 13-year-old boy was arrested at the wheel of a car in Alès () during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, after a 10-kilometer chase with the police. Two police officers were injured during this intervention, indicates a source close to the case, confirming information fromObjective Gard.

The facts began during a routine traffic stop in the city center. The police, intrigued by the erratic driving of a vehicle and the very young appearance of its driver, decided to check him and ordered him to stop. The teenager accelerated and fled, committing multiple traffic violations. The pursuit, particularly dangerous, extended over around ten kilometers through the streets of Alès. Officials from a second crew finally deployed a DIVA device, a harrow allowing the vehicle's tires to be punctured. This intervention made it possible to stop the car on Talabot Boulevard, after two tires were damaged.

Despite the vehicle being immobilized, the young driver, from the La Royale district, rebelled during his arrest, and injured two police officers. The latter received treatment. An investigation has been opened.

This case takes place in a context where refusals to comply are experiencing a significant increase in Alès. According to Emmanuel Dumas, police commissioner of the city, interviewed by Blue, “They have increased from 29 last year to 42 since the beginning of this year, an increase of 40%”.
