He is delighted with the publication of a position for a second emergency doctor to be filled.
As announced during the public meeting on November 21 at the Richard-Sainct space, around 80 members of the Émile-Borel collective and the Manifesto took action on Monday, November 25 in front of the Saint-Côme hospital site in Millau. The objective was in particular to question Benoît Durand, interim director of the Millau and Saint-Affrique hospitals, about the situation at the Émile-Borel hospital center. In the afternoon, a delegation of six members was received by the sub-prefect of Millau.

“There was no response” from the director
Thursday afternoon, five members of the collective held a press conference at the Saint-Affrique hospital to “thank the demonstrators for their presence in Millau” and do “a little recap” regarding Monday. They once again recalled at length the main demands of the collective formulated several times over the months, notably during the last public meeting (see our previous editions). “We explained to the director that for several months he had had the opportunity to dialogue with everyone, declares Jean-Luc Malet, leader of the municipal opposition and member of the collective. Regarding the requests made to him, both by doctors and caregivers, there was no response. For us, today, it is inconceivable to continue discussing with him. We requested an appointment with the director of the Regional Health Agency (ARS). It is with him that we will negotiate and that we will ask for answers to the questions that arise.”
The collective presented to the sub-prefect, according to Jean-Luc Malet, “the state of the hospital and the problems we have with the governance and current management. The problem today is the Saint-Affrique hospital, its ability to properly welcome patients and function normally There is a climate of distrust between management and doctors, hospital workers and the population.
“We are awaiting further developments”
In a press release, the Manifesto mentions the publication by the hospital management of an announcement to seek emergency doctors: “This announcement confirms the absence of will to implement the commitment to maintain the capacities of hospital services (…). It took several demonstrations, rallies and actions to obtain this very small progress. The contempt of the “access to care for residents is obvious. We are awaiting further developments (…) to ensure that the commitments made are respected.”

For Doctor Mohamed Zouani, a geriatrician who will cease his activity in 2025, “governance is not at all benevolent towards medical or paramedical staff”. Cardiologist Emad Loucif, president of the health cooperation group, declares “that by creating precariousness, we will be told at the end of the year that there are not enough visits to the emergency room and not enough patients in hospitalization. We are being pushed to leave. We must start to keep the doctors that we have There is a sabotage of everything that is attractive. We are demanding what the ARS validated and promised when signing the 2021 South Aveyron medical project, namely we are not touching. nothing as long as we doesn't have the middle hospital, because if unfortunately it doesn't see the light of day, at least we don't end up naked. Following the meeting with the sub-prefect, “Today (Thursday November 28)we had the pleasant surprise to see that following our request made in relation to the second emergency line, a position for a second emergency doctor appeared to be filled in Saint-Affrique, underlines Jean-Luc Malet. In relation to the applications that will arrive, the doctors must be involved and recruitment must not be done only through the director.”
For her part, Chrystel Apolit, emergency nurse, affirms that there is “a regulation problem because patients no longer come, which leads to a loss of activity. Under no circumstances is the hospital closed. Actions will continue until the meeting with the ARS.”
