Deschamps’ big bluff on the Blues’ line-up

Didier Deschamps has amazed everyone with his team composition for the Euro 2024 quarter-final between France and Portugal. Eduardo Camavinga is starting in midfield, while Marcus Thuram is a substitute.

This is the answer to one of the two big questions about the starting eleven of the Blues. While Didier Deschamps must do without Adrien Rabiot, suspended for the Euro quarter-final between France and Portugal this Friday (9 p.m.), the French coach has decided to replace him with Eduardo Camavinga. The Real Madrid player will play in midfield alongside Aurélien Tchouaméni and N’Golo Kanté.

The coach of the Blues has pulled off a real bluff with his line-up. Initially, as written initially by RMC Sport, it was Antoine Griezmann who seemed to be heading towards a starting role in midfield in place of Rabiot. “Grizou” will indeed be a starter but in support of the attacking duo Mbappé-Kolo Muani.

Another big surprise: the replacement of Marcus Thuram in the 11 in favor of Randal Kolo Muani. Initially expected in the right wing, the Parisian will finally occupy the position of central attacker, alongside Kylian Mbappé.

As a reminder, Antoine Griezmann is under threat of suspension for a possible semi-final if he is cautioned this Friday, as are Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Aurélien Tchouaméni.

The composition of the Blues: Maignan – Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba, Hernandez – Kanté, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Griezmann – Kolo Muani, Mbappé
