State services intervened in the town of Thoron November 20, 2024, in order to evacuate vehicles and spare parts and close a car scrapyard illegally installed on land located in an agricultural area.
Established for several years at Thor, the car payment undeclared and open air harmed the environment. Following several visits and inspections carried out on the site by State services, a prefectural decree put the operator on notice to regularize its situation.
40 vehicles evacuated from an illegal car scrapyard on agricultural land
As the requirements were not respected, the manager of the car scrapyard was given an administrative fine and ordered to close his operation. An order which was not respected and which led the police and the Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Housing (Dreal) to automatically evacuate the vehicles, dated November 20.
The operation was carried out by the Vaucluse gendarmerie, the Thor municipal police and teams from the (Dreal) interdepartmental unit. This intervention made it possible to empty the land by proceeding to the removal of 40 cars and many spare parts stored. At the same time, seven other offenses were noted on this occasion.
