Let's free ourselves from administrative obstacles“, this is the watchword this Friday, November 29, 2024 in Metz, in Moselle, for the demonstration organized by the Young Farmers Grand Est and the FDSEA of Moselle and that of Meurthe-et-Moselle, with the participation of Young farmers of Meurthe-et-Moselle and those of Moselle.

Two hundred tractors and more than five hundred farmers converged on the center of Metz. They first head towards the Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Housing (DREAL), then the Agricultural social mutuality (MSA), before crossing Metz to go to the prefecture.

They demand “l“urgent application of real administrative simplification for agriculture in the Grand Est.” Farmers also wish, “during the debates on the budgets, that agriculture is not the “great forgotten” of the future orientations.

Jules Thines, Regional Delegate of Young Farmers Grand Est, explains to us: “Farmers are overwhelmed by standards that restrict freedom of enterprise and the exercise of their profession. We want agronomy to prevail over ideology. The standards are totally disconnected from agricultural science. We want administrative simplification. Our job is to cultivate the land, not the forms.

We need financial support to make the transitions. We are asked to change our practices, but we are not given the means to invest and move towards this objective.

The operation launched this Friday morning should end at the beginning of the afternoon in front of the prefecture. Upstream, the farmers intend to meet the various political actors and the prefect of Moselle.
