Garges-lès-Gonesse goes into Olympic mode

As the days go by, the Paris 2024 Games draw closer. An opportunity for Garges-lès-Gonesse to ride this Olympic and Paralympic wave.

« Garges, world capital of integration through sport “, described the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castera, during her visit to the city in spring 2023. Garges-lès-Gonesse is therefore renowned for its sports policy. It is therefore quite natural that the Olympic flame will pass through the city on July 19. But not only that, since the city is also the official “Fan zone 2024” site, an opportunity for the city’s residents to come together to follow the events live or take advantage of sports workshops.

« The Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris are a fantastic opportunity for our regions! The infrastructure built for the Games will then benefit our residents and the summer of 2024 will be an opportunity to come together and unite around positive values such as equal opportunities, perseverance, determination and sharing. These are values that we hold dear in Garges and that we promote every day through concrete inclusion programs through sport! We are proud to welcome the Olympic Flame to Garges on July 19 and to have been chosen as one of the official “Fan Zone 2024” sites in Île-de-France “, as the city’s mayor, Benoît Jimenez, proudly points out.

Unfailing support for sport

With 52 sports associations, nearly 5,000 members and 8 sports facilities including 3 sports complexes, the city encourages sports practice for all and facilitates the emergence of champions. This is the case for the Boxing Club de Garges, voted three years in a row: best women’s club in France, with its record of three French champions, and a world champion in -75kg, Davina Michel. The latter is qualified for the Paris Olympics, and will of course be supported by Garges-lès-Gonesse.
