A GDP “stimulated by the Olympic and Paralympic Games”. French growth was 0.4% in the third quarter, confirmed the National Institute of the statistical and studies (Insee) in its detailed results published Friday, November 29, after growth of 0.2% in the first two quarters. The contribution of domestic demand excluding stocks was positive in the third quarter, fueling the increase in GDP by 0.3 points. Foreign trade contributes negatively by 0.1 point and inventory variations positively by 0.1 point.
Furthermore, the purchasing power of households, calculated per consumption unit, increased by 0.7% after +0.4% in the second quarter. To compare the living standards of households, income is thus divided by the number of consumption units (CU) calculated as follows: 1 CU for the first adult in the household, 0.5 CU for other people aged 14 or plus, 0.3 UC for children under 14 years old. The household savings rate increased for the fourth consecutive quarter, with their consumption growing less than their purchasing power.
